Jewellers & goldsmiths
For the Chinese and the Indians gold acquires the top position. Among the Indians, 24 or 22 carat gold made into coins and jewelry is gifted by the guests in wedding and other ceremonies. There are also expensive silk sarees woven in real gold thread. Among the Chinese, gold necklaces and rings are gifted to the newly wed couples in the tea ceremony. Many of the goldsmiths create traditional Malay, Indian, Chinese and Western designs. There are a lot of jewelry shops along the Pitt Street, Campbell Street and Little India.

Pewter
Malaysia occupies the first position in the pewter production industry. Fashionable mugs, plates, pewter dessert forks, statuettes, pen holders, candle holders, key chains and other gift items are a popular buy among the tourists. Pewter ware is comparatively easy to handle and to take care of. The items can be washed off easily with warm soapy water. A few shops along the night market in Batu Ferringhi, the little stalls along the Kek Lok Si Temple and a few shops in the shopping complexes in Georgetown sell Pewter ware items.
